Senior engineer looking for new work on interesting problems to solve.

My background is mostly in distributed systems, but I work in fullstack computing as well. Looking for a senior/founding/principle/staff engineer position, remote or hybrid, at a company with interesting and fun problems to solve with a team that understands the joy of building. tl;dr →

  • Fullstack experience: Go, Rust, Javascript/Typescript, CSS/HTML, SQL.
    • Backend: APIs, DNS, Kafka, scaling DBs, containers, build/deploy tooling, observability.
    • Frontend: JS, React, WASM (Rust), design, Figma, bundlers, prototyping.
    • Other: lexers/parsers, Postgres, SQLite, OLAP/OLTP, "glue code."
  • 2023 → Present: Senior/Lead Engineer at Replo.app - (JS/TS, Postgres, Kafka, Clickhouse) - Designed and led development of the A/B testing product, and the web analytics product using Kafka and Clickhouse. We basically wanted to give our users a better version of Google Analytics, allowing for arbitrary filtering, grouping, and aggregating; three key things GA4 is not great at. This was all "realtime" so users got real numbers in less than 10 seconds end-to-end.
  • 2018 → 2023: Founder at Protobase (YC W20). (Rust, React, SQLite, Go) Equal parts user interviews and R+D, resulting in prototypes to extend Google Sheets + Excel, run spreadsheets as a service, and emulate existing spreadsheet products using custom formula executors. Prototyping lead to building a custom spreadsheet app - "the 10x, next generation spreadsheet" - from scratch including runtime, storage format, and streaming engine that let users do analysis and experimentation using a simple and easy to use custom query language.
  • 2017 → 2018: Senior Engineer at Signal.co - (Java, Aerospike, Kafka, AWS) - Built out system to let clients click a button to run ad campaigns against billions of identifiers, worked with team to migrate 500+ node cassandra cluster to Aerospike to save a significant amount of money.
  • 2014 → 2017: Engineer rising to Senior Engineer at Signal.co - (Java, Python, Cassandra, Kafka) - implemented event sourcing system in for processing billions of entries daily. Worked on a ~50TB graph database that stored 100B entries, ensuring it was always online, fast, and correct.
