Ministry For The Future

Easily the best book I’ve read in 2020.

I love this book. There’s a lot of doom around climate change, which is warranted, but exhausting. KSR gets really descriptive in how he looks at the future. It’s not just focused on rising sea levels, and the shame in our inability to make changes thus far. It focuses on how we move forward with a just world.

One of the chapters straight up puts forward the idea that we will not solve this by a single solution. There is no silver bullet. It will be a lot of solutions cobbled together, and they’re all necessary. When the infinite costs of the infinite future generations are measured against a current, real dollar amount, we should spend what we have to. We can’t afford not to.
